PLG is actively seeking a dynamic individual to fill the pivotal role of General Counsel. As the head of our corporate legal department, this individual will spearhead legal affairs across our entire corporation, playing a vital role in safeguarding our interests and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate legal strategy to champion and fortify the company’s interests
  • Compliance Oversight: Establish and lead internal audit and corporate compliance programs to uphold regulatory standards and best practices
  • Legal Resource Management: Oversee the provision of legal services and resources to align with corporate objectives and priorities
  • Governmental Relations: Maintain constructive interactions with relevant governmental bodies at local, state, and federal levels, as well as within the broader community
  • Executive Counsel: Provide expert legal advice and oversight to the board of directors, chairman, CEO, and senior management across a spectrum of areas, including ethics, privacy, transparency, data governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Policy Formulation: Contribute to the development of general management policies as an integral member of the executive management team
  • The General Counsel will oversee the following key areas:
    Commercial law
    Corporate law
    GDPR
    Tax law
    Internal controls and risk management
    Insurance
    Intellectual property, brands
    Procurement
    International accounting standards
    CSR regulations

Group 12
Experience

  • Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and hold an active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in either a leading law firm or a corporate legal department is essential
  • Demonstrated experience in companies with a multi-location international presence, showcasing proficiency in navigating diverse legal frameworks across various jurisdictions
  • Proven track record in handling legal matters of mergers and acquisitions, with a deep understanding of associated legal complexities and strategic considerations
  • Prior exposure to healthcare-specific regulations acquired through work in the healthcare industry is highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and engagement with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and synthetic skills, coupled with the ability to dissect complex legal issues and formulate innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a visionary mindset, capable of driving legal strategies aligned with organizational goals and fostering a culture of excellence within the legal team
  • Fluency in both French and English languages is required, enabling seamless communication in multinational and multicultural environments
