The Lean Lab returns in 2025 for its fifteenth edition, confirming its role as the reference event for Life Science laboratories. Organized by LifeBee and PLG Consulting & Digital, the Lean Lab has become a unique platform for professionals, managers, and innovators operating in pharmaceutical, biotech, and cosmetic laboratories.

With its consolidated format and an audience that grows in both size and quality each year, the 2025 edition will explore how laboratories are evolving towards leaner, digital, sustainable, and data-driven models. The event is designed as a practical study day, featuring real-life case studies, hands-on experiences, and open discussions with leading companies.

Key Themes of 2025

  • Green Labs: strategies and tools for building sustainable laboratories
  • AI, KPIs & Smart Labs: practical applications of AI to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency (e.g., voice recognition in ELNs)
  • Laboratory Robotics: use cases of robotic solutions to streamline repetitive tasks, increase safety, and reduce errors in QC and R&D labs
  • Lean Layout: redesigning spaces and workflows to improve efficiency
  • Change Management: managing cultural and organizational change during technology adoption
  • Multi-site Digitalization: governance models and local rollouts for distributed laboratories
  • R&D Laboratories: the strategic role of R&D labs in creating value, with cross-sector case studies
  • Cosmetic Focus: a dedicated session on innovation in cosmetic R&D

As always, the true value of Lean Lab lies in the sharing of real experiences. On stage, 20 speakers from leading companies will present their transformation journeys, including experts from Merck, Menarini, Valpharma, SIT Pharma, Fine Cosmetic, Angelini, Eli Lilly, AbbVie, and more.

The agenda includes contributions on digitalization journeys, sustainability projects, lean design, real-time release, robotics, and the results of the annual Lean Lab Survey, which provides an up-to-date snapshot of Life Science laboratories.

The event is held under the patronage of AFTI and SISNIR, with the support of leading Life Science media partners: AboutPharma, Chimica Magazine, Labworld, MakingLife, and NCF.

Lean Lab Survey 2025

As every year, on the occasion of Lean Lab, we aim to capture a snapshot of the current state of laboratories in Life Science companies through a dedicated survey.
The results will be presented during the event on September 25 and shared with all respondents.

Among all survey participants, one winner will be randomly selected to receive a pair of Bose QuietComfort SE Noise Cancelling Headphones.
